Mid-term break: Disneyland, Valencia and Madrid

Last week was our mid-term break.

We went to Paris Disneyland!  It was fun.  I went on a rollercoaster — it went upside down.  It was really exciting!  My favourite rides were the Star Wars movie and rollercoaster.  It was cold and raining when we got there; it felt like a ski mountain.  But it cleared up and was fun.

Next we flew from Paris to Valencia.  It was Halloween and i got lots of candy from a sweet store.  They had candy eyeballs a witch’s cauldron to put them in.  The next day we explored Valencia.  I loved the Beluga whales at the aquarium.

Next stop Madrid.  We did lots of walking and visited the Prado museum and Reina Sofia.  My favourite painting was Guernica by Picasso.  I really like being in a big city, I think i’m a big city girl.  We also tried out a Lime e-scooter!

Our Granada weekend

We went to the Alhambra.  It had a very pretty garden.  And we saw the fortress.  There was a very nice gift shop.  This is where the Moors lived, they were muslims.  They got kicked out though by the Catholics in 1492.

After visiting the Alhambra, we went for a hike in the Sierra Nevada mountains.  It was very fun and I am so glad we went.

Snapshots of Palma

Ok, so we have spent quite a bit of time in Palma already.  We have stayed at Craig’s, we have been in Hotel Saratoga and we have also visited some of Mallorca’s beaches.  We have also been to language school.  But on Thursday we moved into our own apartment.  Rafa and I get our own rooms again!  The first photo shows our building.  We are on the second and third floors.  We will post lots more about Palma.  But, the old town is very beautiful and there are lots of cafes and ice cream stores.

Mostar (Bosnia), Dubrovnik (Croatia) and Kotor (Montenegro)

After sailing, we rented a car and drove to Mostar in Bosnia.  The Stari Most bridge and the Koski Mehmed Pasha mosque were very beautiful.  We climbed the minaret in the mosque.  There were about a million steps.

The next day we visited Dubrovnik.  We walked all the way around the city walls.  It took over an hour.  The City is based on Game of Thrones.  The orange tile roofs were very beautiful.

We then drove to Montenegro and stayed in Kotor.  There is an old town wall .  And guess what, we climbed that too.  It’s built high in the hills so they couldn’t be attacked from above.  But the most amazing thing about Kotor is the cats.  There are thousands.  And I think I patted all of them.

Sailing away

I loved being captain.  I was the boss and everyone had to say “aye aye captain” when I said “ready to tack?”.  So, been there, done that, got that hat!  (Mama was just borrowing the hat.)

Dolphins!

On our way to the marina at Milna we saw dolphins!  There were five.  It was a magical experience.
