Hvar

We climbed a fortress in Hvar.  It had been built and rebuilt many times.  In the 13th Century the town paid for it by selling salt.  Raffa has been putting bottles of salt water all over our boat to evaporate the water and make his fortune.

Vis

We stayed the night at Vis.  There was a thunderstorm during the afternoon and a boat in the marina was hit by lightning.  We met Alex and Mia who were on a motorbike during the storm and skidded off.  They are our new friends and here is their photo.

Komiza

We stayed just outside Komiza and took a water taxi to get in.  We had a good time at a really nice restaurant next to the sea.  It was nice and fun to go swimming where we stayed.

A submarine garage and the blue cave

Wow!  Submarine garaging in the middle of the Adriatic.  Apparently this is where President Tito kept his secret submarine.  Wish they were invented in Oriental Bay!  The blue caves were spectacular.  The blue is sunlight reflected in the sand at the bottom of the underwater cave mouth!  Nice colour for a swimming pool!

Stari Grad

Stari grad means old town, and it is one of the oldest towns in the whole of Europe.  We got lucky and got some chocolate there; yah us.  Mama and Dad only got gin, poor them.  We stayed the night and slept by the promenade, it was very noisey.

#boatlife by Billie

We are spending the week on a sail boat in Croatia.  We left Split on Saturday.  Being on a boat can be fun and boring sometimes because sometimes you’re swimming and pretending to be pirates and sailing the boat, but then you can also get seasick and not have much to do.  Some of the other good things are that when you stop at marinas it feels so good to have showers!  In Croatia the children are very independent, so when we stop I am allowed to go shopping by myself and go get ice creams with Raffa and no-one bats an eyelash when i turn up at the bakery at 7.05am buying croissants!  Dadda lets me go and buy his coffee as well; more his luck than mine!

Our trip to St Moritz by Billie

Glad to have a break from the heat of Palma (whoops we haven’t posted about Palma yet .. more soon!) in the Swiss Alps.  We stayed in Craig’s place in Silvaplana.  We loved biking in woods and around lakes, I was the only one who didn’t have an electric bike!   On one trip we had a bbq by a small lake — who says you can’t go swimming without togs???.
